March 9 is like 'exam day', job seekers and students are in trouble

The 46th BCS preliminary exam will be held on March 9.  The Public Service Commission (PSC) has officially announced this last week.  More than 300,000 job seekers have applied to take part in the BCS Preli.  The examination is scheduled to be held in eight divisional cities of the country including Dhaka.

But on the same day, three other universities have admission test schedule.  They are - Faculty of Fine Arts of Dhaka University, Chittagong University 'C' unit admission test schedule has been announced on that day.  Besides, the final admission test of Dhaka University of Engineering and Technology (BUET) will also be held on the same day.

On the other hand, the day before the discussed March 9, public and private dental colleges and 24 clustered universities will conduct the 'B' unit admission test.  Lakhs of students can participate in these exams.  Apart from this, the Private Teacher Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) has preliminary plans to conduct the 18th teacher registration college level written exam on the same day.

All in all, netizens are trolling the social media by referring to March 9 as 'National Examination Day'.  Job aspirants and students have expressed doubts about road traffic and traffic congestion due to multiple exams on the same day.

Meanwhile, the Election Commission (EC) announced the polling of the Mymensingh and Comilla City Corporation elections on March 9.  As a result, there may be changes in the schedule of many exams on that day.  But for now job seekers and students are preparing for 'exam day' on March 9.  Looking at the decision of the authorities, they have to be in preparation with 'Dotana'.

46th BCS preliminaries may be delayed Due to city elections, the chances of the 46th BCS preliminaries announced on March 9 are very slim.  Because, Mymensingh and Comilla cities also have BCS exam centers.  As a result, the date of the 46th BCS preliminary examination may be changed, PSC officials said.

Two officials of the PSC examination wing (cadre) told Jago News on Tuesday evening that the university or other examination was not a big deal.  However, it is not possible to take the exam on the same day if there is an election.  Since the EC has announced the election date on March 9, the PSC will decide the matter again.

They said, PSC full commission meeting may be held on Thursday (January 25).  A decision may be taken to change the date of preliminary examination on that day.  However, it is not yet certain whether the exam will be held in Ramadan.  They said that the preliminary examination may be conducted even after Eid.

A job aspirant named Zahid Kibria told Jago News that every time the BCS exam is staged.  We wander through the maze of dates.  Exploited unemployed society suffers.

The candidates have also raised the demand of bringing the exam forward instead of delaying it.  Another job seeker named Sanjida Parveen said, it would be better to take the exam a little earlier on March 1.  There may not be exams before Eid.

A member of the admission committee of the university said that the final admission test of BUET will be held as per the announced schedule on March 9, even though there will be elections in Namaymensingh and Comilla.  He told Jago News on condition of anonymity, "There is no change in our decision regarding the election.  However, if the entrance exam of another university is held on the same day, it is a bit of a problem.  There has been no decision to postpone the exam yet.

It has not been decided to postpone the admission test of DU-Chabi. The admission test of Fine Arts Faculty of Dhaka University is scheduled to be held on March 9.  On the same day, Chittagong University's 'C' unit admission test date has been fixed.  On that day, the officials of the respective universities were contacted about whether the exams would be held on time or not.

Dhaka University Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr.  ASM Maqsood Kamal told Jago News, "The recruitment committee will discuss it."  However, no decision has been taken to change the exam date yet.

Chittagong University registrar KM Noor Uddin told today news, "It (whether the admission test will be conducted or not) has not been decided yet.  If the date is changed, it will be intimated.'

Besides, the NTRCA has already withdrawn from the plan to conduct the 18th Teacher Registration Examination on March 8 and 9.  They are continuing to discuss whether the exam can be taken within Ramadan or not.
