The youth of Bangladesh maintained their chances by defeating Ireland


The loss to India by a big margin of 84 runs has put the Bangladesh U-19 team on the backfoot.  However, the Junior Tigers of Bangladesh got a chance to recover from Ireland.

Bangladesh retained their chances of reaching the next round by defeating the Ireland U-19 team by 6 wickets with 19 balls in hand in Bloemfontein.

Batting first, Ireland collected 235 runs for the loss of 8 wickets.  In response, Bangladesh reached the target losing 4 wickets in 46.5 overs.

The batsmen played a bit slow in the beginning when they came down to bat with a target of 236 runs.  However, Ahrar Amin and Mohammad Shihab James, who came down to bat at No. 5 and No. 6, made Bangladesh's win easy by making a great partnership of 109 runs.  Mohammad Shihab James remained unbeaten on 55 off 54 balls and Ahrar Amin remained unbeaten on 45 off 63 balls.

Earlier, opener Ashiqur Rahman Shibli scored 44 off 60 balls and Adil Bin Siddique scored 36 off 63 balls.  Chaudhuri Mohammad Rizwan scored 21 runs.  Ariful Islam scored 13 runs.
